The Angel is an American TV show that has been on the top of the popularity charts for many years since its first telecast on October 5, 1999. The reason for this particular television TV show to gain such prominence is because of the fact that this is a spin-off of another widely popular television series called Buffy-The Vampire slayer. I guess most of them would be aware of this Buffy character more than Angel. The creator of Buffy is the creators of Angel TV show as well i.e. Joss Whedon except for the fact that he was assisted by another co-writer David Greenwalt.

This show debuted in the television scene on October 5, 1999 and had a terrific run for five complete years and finally the curtains closed for Angel on May 19, 2004. The first season of this series had collections which bettered the season four collections of Buffy. This is a clear indication of the hype and hoopla this series had created among the audiences. But Buffy was more preferred than Angel TV show by the audiences thereafter because the storyline faded a bit here and there.

The basic storyline of Angel is similar to Buffy and the main character of this story is a vampire named Angel and he has to battle against all odds while working as a private detective agent. The odds are battles with evil spirits and demons and also his own self. Actually, the human soul of Angel has been returned as a punishment by the gypsies for killing someone in their own clan. Thus, the soul torments our hero by making him feel the guilt and pain about the atrocious actions he had carried out in the past.

I had mentioned the plot of Angel as more mature than Buffy in one of my earlier passages. The reason is that most scenes have themes of an adulthood rather than childhood/adolescent period as witnessed in the Buffy series. Most of the scenes are very dark which might not please certain audiences and also the element of violence is on the higher side when compared with Buffy. But, on the whole Angel TV show is very intriguing with unique characters and distinct storyline casting David Boreanaz as the Angel. The other important characters are Chordelia Chase (Charisma Carpenter), Doyle (Glenn Quinn) and Wesley-Wyndam Price (Alexis Denisof).

This series has a total of 110 episodes. All of these episodes have been compiled in a single DVD and is available for sale. Angel seems to have a blurred theory. In general it kept a fully developed focus that moved beside the central atmosphere shown in the original Buffy the Vampire Slayer saga. It is still known that The Angel TV show was a bit murky and sinister as compared to Buffy.

For instance the character of Spike, it has been an attractive character in the previous Buffy series, but as he came in the light in Angel, the character of his was more seriously written , turning its image into something more extraordinary who was then just a joking teenager.

Angel has grown to be an amazing television sequel after Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Director Joss Whedon has once again proven his skill and ability by gaining accolades for his work which ran through almost every TV set in the past five years.

The show although is a success for Joss Whedon, however it requires a small effort in portrayal of the characters and punch in the script. The show nevertheless stands with its exclusive personality although most of us know that it is inspired from its predecessor.
